New News Story

The Week That Was 8.09.17

Dear Parents/Carers,

I am delighted to be able to write my first communication as  Head teacher of St Mary’s Catholic Primary School. Thank you to all the staff, pupils and families for making me feel so welcome – I feel privileged to be joining your school community.

I trust you all had a restful and fun filled Summer holiday.

My priority as Head teacher is to ensure that St Mary’s continues to embed all of the good practice Mr Wilson has already put in place. It is my aim  to work with all our stake holders to ensure we are able to meet the needs of all our pupils, enabling them to reach their  full potential both academically and spiritually.

As we move forward we remember our school Mission statement; ‘To grow strong in God’s love as we learn, care and pray”  We ask God to pray for us on this journey.

The Children have settled back into their school environment extremely well this week, and it is lovely to see them all looking so smart in their uniform. We welcome our new Reception children who will be joining us next week part time and then Full time from the 18th September I am sure they will all be very excited about starting their new journey at St Mary’s.

We celebrated  our Blessed Mother Mary’s birthday today with mass led by Fr Brendan and Deacon O’Leary, this was followed by sharing birthday cake amongst the staff ,children and some of our school committee.

On Sunday 10th September  their will be an opportunity for any child currently in Year 3 or above who is due to take the Sacrament of Holy Communion to register after Mass at either The Cathedral, St Patricks, St Aidens, St Gregory’s or The Sacred Heart.

Please look out for our new look News Letter starting from next!!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

God Bless

Carmel Dodds
