The Week That Was 11th May 2018

I cannot express how fantastic this week has been. It was an absolute joy to see some of our children make their First Holy Communion at St Aiden’s on Saturday and then at St Francis and St Therese in East Hunsbury on Sunday . Myself and the other staff who attended had two beautiful days. I would also like to say a huge thank you to all of you who attended along with our fabulous children my own Induction Mass on Tuesday evening. It was such a special occasion and I was delighted that Mr Wilson was able to join us too. Mass was said by Monsignor Kevin McGinnell, Episcopal Vicar for Education and Formation and Deacon Michael. Everyone commented on how wonderful the choir sang and how well the school council performed key duties on the evening. I would like to say a special thanks to the school chaplaincy team who organised the whole event. It is an absolute privilege to work with such wonderful children and staff and to be part of this special school community.   On Thursday we celebrated the Feast of the Ascension. Mass was said by Father Brendan and he was ably assisted by year 6 throughout the service. It was extremely fitting when he brought our year 6 children to the front of the hall and gave them a special Blessing to help and to support them throughout their SATs papers next week. We are all extremely proud of our year 6 children and we would ask you to pray for them over the coming days ahead. Each of our children is unique and each one has made amazing progress this year. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all and Mrs Curry and Ms Mc Clurg who have been working extremely hard too!!We are delighted to attach the term dates for next academic year. We hope that this will help you when booking holidays. We would once again ask you to ensure that all holidays are in keeping with the school calendar and do not fall on days when children need to be in school. With the variation in climate, we would like to remind you that children can now wear their summer uniform. Skirts/dresses should be of a reasonable length and leggings should not be worn. White socks to be worn with summer dresses. Boys may wear grey/ black shorts. Short sleeve white shirts can be worn. We are beginning to see colourful sunvests appearing beneath the school shirts and we would like to remind you that these are not school uniform and we do not want to see these next week. Sun hats and sun cream to be labelled with children’s names. Lastly, Saturday 19th May, will see the marriage of Prince Harry to Meghan Markle and to celebrate this occasion we  have said that the children may come dressed as a prince or princess or wearing smart clothing  on Friday the 18th.  Year 6 will be wearing mufti on this day as they are out of school on that day. A number of classes have planned additional celebrations for the Friday afternoon.

Have a wonderful weekend!

God Bless
