Core Values

“Vibrancy and clear expectation walk hand in hand and there is no questioning

the integrity of purpose or invitation to enjoin the spirit of the school.”

Assessment Report by IQM 2012

At St. Mary’s we encourage our pupils “to reach for the STARS”. This is an acronym for our five core values. These are strengthened through daily prayer and various liturgical experiences, to enable pupils to develop a strong prayer life and a personal relationship with God. A strong sense of faith and Catholic values permeate every aspect of our school’s academic, social and religious experience.

Prayer & Spirituality  – “Through Him, with Him, in Him.”   Romans 11:36

At the heart of the Eucharistic celebration are the bread and wine that, by the words of Christ and the invocation of the Holy Spirit, become Christ's Body and Blood. (Catechism of the Catholic Church, article 1333)

Prayer & Trust – “Trust in God and trust in me.” John 14:1

Trust is a vital element of life. From time to time we all experience fears, worries, anxieties.   Even when it seems there is absolutely no one that we can trust, we know we can trust Jesus. It is only when we put our absolute trust in Jesus that we are truly kept safe and will begin to find that we can trust Him in others also. It is also as we trust Him that we ourselves are able to be trustworthy.

Prayer & Aspiration – “I am still running, trying to capture the prize for which Christ Jesus captured me.” Philippians 3:14.

We strive to develop our skills and abilities so that we can become confident individuals who aspire to achieve every day in all areas of our lives.

Prayer & Respect – “Treat others as you would like to be treated.” Matthew 7:12

As a human being created in God’s image and likeness every individual is to be afforded respect by others. This respect is seen in each person’s speech and actions.

Prayer & Support – “Together you are the Body of Christ.” 1 Corinthians 12:27

We share a common purpose – the best spiritual, physical and academic development of our pupils. We are called to accomplish this in a positive and collaborative manner. The joys and rewards of learning and doing one’s best are celebrated by all members of St. Mary’s Catholic community. We give back to the parish and larger community through our time, talent and efforts.
