We value working closely with parents and carers, in order to provide the best possible opportunities for our pupils. Here are just some of the ways that we do this:
Home-School Agreement
At St. Mary’s Catholic Primary School. We believe that the most important factor in promoting a child's success in education is the parents' attitude towards education.
When your child starts school you will be invited to sign a Home-School Agreement. The agreement contains the school’s mission statement and the schools aims. It clearly sets out what the school expects of its parents and what parents should expect from their child’s first school. You will be asked to renew this agreement at the beginning of each school year.
By signing the Home-School Agreement, you will be showing your commitment to working in partnership to ensure that your child achieves his or her very best.
Reports
Class teachers comment on and assess children’s work and individual progress in written reports, which are given to parents and carers once a year. These reports help assess achievement, academic learning and social development, and each report is followed by the opportunity for a parent/carer consultation with class teachers.
Parent Consultations
All parents are invited to attend Parents’ Consultation meetings to discuss their child’s progress twice a year. Parents are welcome to come outside these times to discuss the education of their children. To ensure adequate time is given to discuss any concerns, it is helpful if an appointment is made with the child’s class teacher.
Masses, Assemblies and other Celebrations
We invite parents and other family members to join us in celebrating Mass and to attend assemblies and other celebrations and events on a number of occasions throughout the school year.
